I was posted to the Republic of Turkey at the time when Ukraine and Turkey marked the decade jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between each other. Bearing in mind the ups and downs in the long history of Ukrainian-Turkish relations I am proud to see now that for these ten years - a tiny drop in the ocean of world history - both nations managed to develop the most friendly and mutually beneficial example of cooperation.

One of the most significant common achievements within this very short span of time is up-grading Ukrainian-Turkish relations to the level of constructive partnership. Such a progress would be impossible without sincere good will between Ukrainian and Turkish people. Ukraine and Turkey are more and more cooperative facing the global challenges. We are united in front of the most important strategic priority for Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey - membership in the European Union. Our both states sufficiently contribute to the stability and prosperity of Europe. To that end we have the necessary prerequisites as well as huge economic and human potential.

I am convinced that today, for a time of crucial changes in the global security system, mutual support and understanding between our countries is an issue of paramount importance. The growing role of international cooperation as well as geopolitical situation in the region favor further active development of Ukraine-Turkish bilateral relations and cooperation in the framework of international organizations such as United Nations, Council of Europe and Black Sea Economical Cooperation.

In the light of the new Strategy on Ukraine-NATO relations, which defines full NATO membership as the ultimate goal of Ukraine's European integration policy, we highly appreciate the consistent support of the Republic of Turkey extended to our aspirations concerning the Alliance.

I'd also like to underline that we have a high level of cooperation in such spheres as economy, culture, science and tourism. And Ukrainian Embassy will continue to facilitate the subsequent development of our interaction in these areas of mutual interest.

Proceeding from the current realities, Ukraine views Turkey as an important political and economical partner and we are looking forward to further fruitful dialogue.
