Ukraine And Turkey To Develop Trade And Economic Cooperation.
Ukraine and Turkey intend to develop trade and economic cooperation, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced. According to Yanukovych, Ukrainian-Turkish relations are excellent and Ukraine is satisfied with their economic achievements. At the same time, the two counties have great potentials for development of trade and economic cooperation and increasing their trade turnover. In particular, Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation has great potentials in the spheres of energy, metallurgy, and transportation, among other spheres. Moreover, Yanukovych said that Ukraine is hoping that Turkey would support Ukraine on its way to the World Trade Organization as well as to the Euro-Atlantic institutions. Yanukovych also expressed the hope that Ukraine and Turkey will be able to establish cooperation on economic projects involving the rebuilding of Iraq. Erdogan said that the friendship between Ukraine and Turkey is constantly strengthening. At the same time, according to him, there are certain problems in certain sectors, particularly, the transport sector. Erdogan stated Turkey's readiness to support Ukraine's bid to join the West. According to Erdogan, bilateral relations between Ukraine and Turkey are a defining factor in the Euro-Asian region. Moreover, cooperation in Iraq could be included on the agenda.
Ukraine And Turkey To Sign Free Trade Agreement.
Ukraine and Turkey intend to sign a Free Trade Agreement. This is stated in the Joint Action Plan on Enhanced Co-operation between Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey. The two sides agreed to encourage creation of joint trading companies. Ukraine and Turkey also agreed to support trade between small and medium enterprises in the two counties. Moreover, the two countries agreed to simplify their visa regimes for businesspeople and eliminate barriers to trade and the frictions existing in trade between the two countries.
